Description of key information

Readily biodegradable: 75% (ThOD) in 28 days (OECD 301D)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Considering all available studies, the members of the AES category are generally to be found readily biodegradable (HERA [1] & Danish EPA [2]).

One reliable study on ready biodegradability of AES (C8 -10, 1 -2.5EO) Na is available. This study was performed with domestic sewage according OECD guideline 301D (Z&S, 2004). Based on O2 consumption, a biodegradation rate of 75% was reported after 28 days.

Therefore, AES (C8 -10, 1 -2.5EO) Na is considered to be readily biodegradable.
