Studies investigating the acute aquatic toxicity were available for all three trophic levels (algae, aquatic invertebrates, fish) testing different Pigments. Studies on fish were conducted with Pigment Red 22, Red 146, and Red 184. Studies on aquatic invertebrates (daphnia) were conducted with Pigments Red 2, 22 and 146. The studies on algae were conducted with Pigment Red 112, 210, 22, and 2. The results were as follows:

Fish

LC50 for freshwater fish: > water solubility limit

Daphnia

EC50 for freshwater invertebrates: > water solubility limit

Algae

NOEC / EC10(72 hours) for freshwater algae > solubility limit

Chronic data is avialbale for one trophic level (daphnia). The effects were as follows:

Daphnia

NOEC for freshwater invertebrates: > water solubility limit

The toxicity to microorganism was investigated according to OECD guideline 209. The results were as follows:

Activated sludge

EC10/ NOEC sewage treatment plant microorganisms ≥ 1000 mg/L
