Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A valid Zahn-Wellens Test was conducted for evaluating the inherent biodegradability of test item methylphosphonic acid. The results expressed as COD and % of biodegradation for the test item and the reference item are reported. Based on ECHA PBT guidance document, in case of biodegradability <20 % in an inherent biodegradability study the substance shall be considered as persistent without the need for further testing. With an inherent biodegradability of 21 - 24 % the substance shall be considered as persistent for the PBT discussion. A study on ready biodegradability (according to OECD 301) cannot be expected to deliver any meaningful added information and shall therefore be waived. Due to lack of inherent biodegradability the substance shall be considered as persistent for the PBT discussion.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
