In a 24h Daphnia toxicity test the toxicity of the test item was studied under static conditions. Daphnids were exposed to control, vehicle control, and test item at nominal concentration of 5.8, 10, 18, 32, 58 and 100 mg/L for 24 hr.  Immobilization was observed daily. The EC50 24h was > 100 mg/L. The 24–hr EC0 based on immobilization was 58 mg/L.  However, small parts of the test substance were swimming at the surface of the test solutions at concentrations 5.8-100 mg/l (nominal) from the start of the test. Any observed toxicity could relate to these undissolved particles.

In a second study with Daphnia magna. Daphnids were exposed to control, vehicle control and test item at nominal concentration of 0.1mg/L (0.083mg/L measured after removal of undissolved test item) under semi-static conditions for 48 hours. The EC50 48h was >0.083mg/L which is above the water solubility and no adverse effects were observed throughout the test.

Additionally published data on acute Daphnia toxicity are available. Vehicle was used. Limited details on the experimental conditions were given. However, the EC50 48h was above the highest tested concentration of 10mg/L (nominal).

Overall, It can be concluded that the test substance is not acutely toxic to Daphnia at the range of solubility.
