Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a 72 hour toxicity screening study, the cultures of Scenedesmus subspicatus were exposed to the test item at nominal concentrations of 0, 0.1, 1.0 and 10 mg/L under static conditions.  The NOEC and EC50 values based on cell number were < 0.1 and > 10 mg/L, respectively. However, there was no dose response relationship observed. The derived NOEC is only based on cell number and on statistical analysis.

A second study on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was performed as a limit test. Algae were exposed to control, vehicle control and test item at nominal concentration of 0.1mg/L (0.016mg/L measured after removal of undissolved test item) under semi-static conditions for 72 hours. The ErC50 72h was >0.016mg/L and the NOErC was 0.016 mg/L which is above the water solubility and no adverse effects were observed throughout the test.

Overall, it can be concluded that the results indicate that the substance is not acutely toxic to algae in the range of solubility.
