Additional information

Flammability:

No propagation of combustion of the test substance along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed. According to the guidelines performance of the burning rate test is not required. Based on the results obtained the test substance is considered ‘not highly flammable’.

Flammability on contact with water:

The test substance does not contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with water and/or to the evolution of a flammable gas. Moreover the test substance was dissolved in water during the determination of the UV-VIS absorption spectra. It demonstrated that the test substance does not ignite spontaneously in contact with water. In conclusion, the test substance is considered ‘not highly flammable’ in contact with water.

Pyrophoricity:

The test substance does not contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with air. Moreover the test substance was handled under normal laboratory conditions during this project. It demonstrated that the test substance does not ignite in contact with air. In conclusion, test substance has no pyrophoric properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No propagation of combustion of the test substance along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed.

Therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.7.2.1 the substance shall not be classified as flammable solid.

The test substance does not ignite in contact with air.

Therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 Table 2.10.1 the substance shall not be classified as pyrophoric solid.
