Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eye contact: Wash with plenty of water for 15 minutes

Skin contact: Remove contamined clothing. Wash with plenty of water and soap for 15 minutes.

Ingestion: In sudden case, if injured person is conscious induce vomiting; giving him large amounts of water or milk

Inhalation: If respiratory discomfort or irritation occurs, move the person to fresh air. If necessary give therapeutic oxygen or perform artificial respiration.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable estinguishing media: Dry chemical, Carbon dioxide, Foam, Wate spray.

Combustion products: If it is involved in fire, it may emit hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride, carbon and nitrogen oxides fumes.

Equipment: In estinguishing fire operations utilize selfcontained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Containment / cleaning methods: Delimit contamined area. Wear adequate protective equipment. Stop the spillage if the operation is not dangerous

Eliminate ignition sources and do not smoke. Do not allow the product to enter drains, surface and ground water and soil.

Contain and absorb spilt liquid with inert materials. Pick up mechanically contamined material and put it in a suitable container for disposal.

Wash area with large amounts of water

Handling and storage

Handling: Perform in open or well ventilated areas. Avoid contact with incompatible materials and keep away from fire and ignition sources.

Storage: Store in hermetically sealed drums, protected from impacts and in a well ventilated area.

The substance is an intermediate treated under strictly controlled conditions.

The charge of row material and the production proces are performed in closed cycle equipment (the product is handled through process pumps).

The only open phases are sampling, packaging  and maintenance. The first two are performed under local intake and the emissions are treated in fragmentation systems; the last one is performed after equipment purging.

The intermediate is discharged into drums in dedicated area using local exhaust ventilation.

During all procedures the workers use the suitable PPE that are conform to European regulation and follow internal standard procedures.

The process emissions are sent to a plant for incineration. The potential environmental emissions are conveyed through pipes or local intake to an absorption plant. The liquid wastes are pre-treated and conveyed to the internal treatment plant.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The adoption of the most appropriate engineering controls and Personal Protective Equipment is based on the local Risk Assessment done by the employer in its workplace conditions, particularly when a standardized exposure scenario is not available .

Protection equipment

Eyes: safety goggles and face shield

Skin: garments against chemical agents, rubber gloves and boots

Breathing: full face gas mask with universal filter or with organic vapour filter

Emergency: self-contained breathing apparatus

Thermal hazard: Not foreseen in the standard use.

Perform in open or well ventilated areas. Do not eat or drink in work area. Do not smoke.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid: High temperature.

Hazardous decomposition By heating at high temperature it decomposes with emission of toxic gas (hydrogen fluoride and chloride, carbon and nitrogen oxides).

Materials to avoid: Strong bases and strong reducing agent

Fire / explosion hazard: Combustible; It can explode in contact with Strong bases and strong reducing agent.

Disposal considerations

Burn in an authorized chemical incineration plant as required according to National/European laws.

Empty containers: Clean-up for re-use if permitted or send to disposal in a fully authorized plant.
