Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage
Details on inoculum:
A sample of activated sewage sludge was collected from the sewage treatment plant on 1997-09-29. The sample was maintained at 22 °C with continuous aeration and fed with 50 ml/l syntetic sewage at 24 h intervals after collection. The pH was 7.2 and mean susopended solids contensts was 4.6 g/l. No adjustment of pH was considered necessary. The inoculum was diluted to approximately 3 g/l.

Executive summary:

A study was performed to assess the inhibitory effect of PD 132408 on the respiration of activated sewage sludge. The study was conducted according to OECD 209 at a limit cioncentration of 100 mg/l in two dublicates. The test was run with activated sewage sludge incubated with synthetic seage under vigorous aeration in the presence of the test substance. 3,5 -Dichlorophenol was tested concurrently as a reference substance to demonstrate the satisfactory performance of the procedure. The EC50 (Respiration inhibition) value for PD 132408 was determined to be > 100 mg/l for the three hours contact time.
