Key result
Water solubility:
> 59.7 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat. (dissolved fraction)
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
6.3
Details on results:
Result: Concentration of benzenebutanoic acid, 4-methyl-γ-oxo in a saturated solution of the test material = 36.2 g/l.
Result: Concentration of 4-ethylmorpholine in a saturated solution of the test material = >23.5 g/l.
Overall Result: Total concentration of benzenebutanoic acid, 4-methyl-γ-oxo and 4-ethlymorpholine in a saturated solution of the test material = >59.7 g/l.
Conclusions:
In a saturated solution of the test material, the total benzenebutanoic acid, 4-methyl-γ-oxo and 4-ethlymorpholine in solution has been determined to be greater than 59.7 g/l at 20.0 +/- 0.5 °C.
Executive summary:

A limit value is quoted for the concentration of 4-ethylmorpholine in a saturated solution of the test material as it is clear from the results generated that virtually all of this component had dissolved. Although preparing the sample solutions with a higher ratio of test material to water would have ensured the presence of excess 4-ethylmorpholine, the considerable excess of benzenebutanoic acid, 4-methyl-γ-oxo also present would have rendered the sample solutions unfilterable.

The concentration of benzenebutanoic acid, 4-methyl-γ-oxo and 4-ethylmorpholine in the standard solutions was calculated using the following data acquired in the Accelerated Storage Stability study, Safepharm project number 798/016.

The peak heights or areas of the pair of standards associated with a particular sample were corrected to nominal concentration and the mean value taken prior to the calculation of the sample concentration.

The experimental procedure used complies with that specified in Method A6 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (which constitutes Annex V of Council Directive 67/548/EEC).
