Basis for effect:
growth inhibition
Duration:
16 h
Dose descriptor:
EC50
Effect conc.:
67 mg/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
growth inhibition
Conclusions:
One study is available for the source substance CAS 1760-24-3. A 16 hour EC50 value of 67 mg/l and an EC10 value of 25 mg/l were determined for toxicity to pseudomonas putida (growth rate) in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol, and in compliance with GLP. As explained in the attached justification, similar results are expected by the target substance.

Description of key information

EC10 (16 h) = 25 mg/L (nominal, OECD 209) based on read across from CAS 1760-24-3.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
67 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
25 mg/L

Additional information

Experimental data on the toxicity of N-(2-aminoethyl)-N’-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine (CAS 35141-30-1) towards microorganisms are not available. Therefore, in accordance with the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 “Grouping of substances and read across” and the read across assessment framework (RAAF, ECHA 2017) a read across from the analogue substance N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (CAS 1760-24-3) has been performed. Details on the read-across justification can be found in the attached justification in the respective target entry and in the overall justification for grouping of substances attached in IUCLID Section 13.

The influence of the analogue substance on the growth of Pseudomonas putida was examined in a reliable study conducted according to DIN 38412/8 and GLP (1994). The nominal test concentrations were 15.6, 31.3, 50, 62.5, 125, 250 and 500 mg/L. An EC50 (16 h) of 67 mg/L and an EC10 (16 h) of 25 mg/L based on growth inhibition, were determined in the test.

Based on the results of the analogue substance and the attached read across justification, similar effects are expected by the target substance N-(2-aminoethyl)-N’-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine (CAS 35141-30-1).
