Description of key information

GLP study according to EU Method A.6.(Flask method).

Analytical development Physical Chemistry, Schering AG, Berlin, Study report A01872 (APC 166/200), dated 2002-04-04.

Result: S(20) = 2.41 ± 0.4 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
2.41 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of testosterone was determined using the flask method at 20°C to be:

S20 = 2.41 ± 0.4 mg/L

Testosterone can be considered as insoluble in water in accordance with the descriptive term of Ph-Eur. (EP 4th ed.) and USP 25. The pH value of the saturated water solutions was determined to be 6.2.

(According to X-ray powder diffraction the insoluble residues from the suspension in water consist of a mixture of the monohydrates I and II. The dehydration of both leads to polymorph I, which was the starting material.)
