Additional information

Propane-1-thiol is not expected to hydrolyse due to a lack of appropriate functional groups. No data are available for the phototransformation of propane-1-thiol in air, water or soil. Propane-1-thiol reached 17 % biodegradation in water in 28 days and therefore cannot be considered readily biodegradable under the strict conditions of OECD guideline 301D.

The substance has a log Kow of <3, which means that it is not expected to bioaccumulate or adsorb to suspended solids or sediments. The physico-chemical properties of propane-1-thiol indicate that the majority of this substance will not remain in water but will volatilise into the atmosphere. Propane-1 -thiol is therefore not expected to persist in the water environment because it will volatilise, not bioaccumulate or adsorb to suspended solids or sediment.
