Specific details on test material used for the study:
TH 1165 Keton I Br
Batch number 600CC
solid/white
99.9% w/w purity
MW=396.3 g/mol

Key result
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
200 °C

In the preliminary capillary test accoring to OECD guideline 102 and EC method A.1. no melting point could be observed as the test substance started to decompose at a temperature of 200 °C. The test item began to change its color from white over yellow and light red to black at 200°C . This behavior of the test item leads to the conclusion that TH 1165 Keton I BR decomposes and has no melting point.

Conclusions:
The test item has no melting point down to 30degC using a preliminary test according to OECD 102 (1995) and EC method A.1 as TH 1165 Keton I BR started to decompose at a temperature of about 200degC (473 K). This behavior of the test item leads to the conclusion that TH 1165 Keton I BR decomposes and has no melting point

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The physical state and appearance of the test item is a white solid/particulate at 20°C and 1013 hPa, based on the test item having no melting point and decomposing before melting at a tempereture of about 200°C, as described in the study referred to. The result is considered to be reliable.
