Description of key information

According to column 2 Annex VII of the REACH regulation testing can be omitted due to the absence of chemical groups associated with explosive properties in the substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Based on the structure of L-asparagine, which consists of a hydrocarbon backbone, a carboxy-group and two amino-groups and each functional group is bound to a carbon atom, the test item does not contain chemical groups associated with explosive properties. Thus, the L-asparagine does not need to be classified as explosive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available, reliable and adequate data the substance does not need to be classified according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and the Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) with respect to Explosiveness.
