Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

In the study of Malaney and Gerhold the biological oxygen demand of activated sludge incubated with L-asparagine was determined. The result revealed that 24.7 % of the compound is degraded within 24 h, therefore L-asparagine is considered to be readily biodegradable. Additionally, a QSAR prediction was performed using the the EpiSuite software (BioWIN). According to this estimation L-asparagine is readily biodegradable.
