The flammability study is not required for liquids as flammability is assessed on the basis of flash point and boiling point.
There is no indication, on the basis of chemical structure or experience in handling and use, that the substance is pyrophoric (flammable in contact with air) or flammable in contact with water.
Therefore, in accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI, there is no requirement to conduct further flammability testing.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the measured flashpoint (<-30°C) and boiling point (34 ±1°C), ethanethiol is classified as an extremely flammable liquid (Category 1; H226: Extremely flammable liquid and vapour) according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP).
