Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Deviations:
not applicable
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
2.15
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
7
Remarks on result:
other: 95 % confidence limits: (1.93 - 2.37)

The log Pow value of the test compound was calculated from its log k' and the calibration line to be (at 25 °C):

 compound

retention times [min]  log k'  log Pow
   1.  2.  3.  mean
 Test item  2.09  2.10  2.10  2.10  -0.04  2.15

The evaluations were made with the program Pow 1.3 (PDR Informatik, Schering AG).

Conclusions:
The partition coefficient (logPow) was determined to be 2.15 at 25 °C and pH7.
Executive summary:

The n-octanol/water partition coefficient (log Pow) was determined according to EU Testing Guideline A.8 (HPLC method based on OECD guideline No. 117) to be 2.15 (95 % confidence limits 1.93 -2.37) at 25 °C and pH 7 which indicates no lipophilicity. The method is based on the correlation of the reversed phase retention data of the test compound with those of reference compounds with known log Pow values.

Description of key information
