Conclusions:
It is considered that the test article, Ethyldehydrolinalool, is a slight irritant
to rabbit skin under the conditions of this study.
Executive summary:

The purpose of this study was to assess the degree of irritation produced by the test article, Ethyldehydrolinalool, when applied to the intact skin of the albino rabbit. The procedures used meet the requirements of OECD Guideline No. 404, adopted 17th

July 1992. A 0.5 ml aliquot of the test article was applied over a previously clipped area of the dorsal skin of each of 3 albino rabbits. The test article was held in contact with the skin, under a semiocclusive patch assembly, for a 4 hour period. The patch was then removed and the treated site gently cleansed with water. Skin reaction, i.e. erythema and eschar as well as oedema

formation, was assessed 1, 24, 48 and 72 hours after patch removal. Additional assessments of

skin reaction were made 7 and 14 days after dosing. Treatment with the test article produced a skin reaction characterised by very slight to well defined erythema and barely perceptible to moderate oedema in all 3 animals. This response

persisted 7 days after dosing but was no longer apparent in any animal at the end of the 15 day observation period.

The primary irritation index was calculated to be 2.8.
