Basis for effect:
mobility
Remarks on result:
other: EC50 > maximum soluble concentration in test medium
Details on results:
Measured concentrations:
- At t=0 h, 0.452 mg Sr/L was measured
- At t=48 h, 0.442 mg Sr/L was measured
- At 48 h the test concentration remained within ± 20% of the initial measured concentration.

- Biological results: No mortality or any visible signs of abnormality were observed during the entire test period.

- Validity criteria
Immobilised daphnids: ≤10% in the control
Oxygen concentration at the end of the test: ≥3 mg/L in control and test vessels
Results with reference substance (positive control):
- The 48 h EC50 for potassium dichromate was 1.25 mg/L.
Reported statistics and error estimates:
- No statistical evaluation was performed.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
No effects were observed and thus the 48h-EC50 was considered to exceed the maximum solubility of the test substance in medium.
Executive summary:

The acute toxicity to Daphnia magna was examined under static conditions in a test that was carried out according to OECD 202 (draft of 2000) and GLP. The test was carried out as a limit test. An amount of 100 mg of L 130 was added to 1 L of medium (dilution water according to ISO 6341). This solution was shaken for 48 hours and then filtered (0.45 µm). The resulting filtrate was the final solution used to expose daphnids. At the beginning and at the end of the exposure period, the concentration strontium (Sr) was measured. The measured concentration was 0.452 mg Sr/L at the start and 0.442 mg Sr/L at the end of the test. No effects were oberved and thus the 48h-EC50 was considered to exceed the maximum solubility of the test substance in medium. The validity criteria were fulfilled.
