Conclusion on classification

Acute toxicity:

Freshwater algae (diatom) are the most sensitive species to the acute toxic effects of the test item with an acute EC50 of 0.1 mg/L. Based on the these data, the substance has to be classified with regard to acute environmental toxicity with aquatic acute cat. 1 (H400: Very toxic to aquatic life, M = 10) according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP/GHS) and as N, R50 (Dangerous for the environment; Very toxic to aquatic organisms.) according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD).

Chronic toxicity:

Classification of the test item is based on long-term toxicity data. Freshwater algae (diatom) are the most sensitive species to toxic long term effects of the test item with a chronic NOEC of 0.003 mg/L. As the test item is not ready biodegradable, the substance is classified as chronic aquatic cat. 1 (H410: Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects, M = 10) according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP/GHS) and as N, R50/53 (Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment) according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD).
