Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In the TNO (1992) study, no toxic effect of TDI was observed on the terrestrial plants Avena sativa and Lactuca sativa. However, it must be noted that in the tests performed, TDI was in contact with water (in moist soils) and so it is likely that the concentrations of TDI actually bioavailable were much lower than the nominal concentrations (loadings). As with aquatic systems, any ecotoxicity is probably due to soluble reaction products. As an indication of the potential indirect hazard due to TDA formation, in parallel studies EC50 values for both Avena sativa and Lactuca sativa of between 320 and 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil (highest level tested) were found.

Results from long-term tests are not available and therefore the LC50 value of >1000mg TDI/kg soil (d.w.), obtained in this study, should be used together with an assessment factor of 1000 in order to derive a PNEC value.
