Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A photoreactor study confirmed oxidation by photogenerated hydroxyl radicals as the significant degradation mechanism for TDI. In this study toluene was used as reference substrate and concentrations of test substance were determined by in situ IR spectroscopy. The observed degradation rate constant, 7.4x10-12 cm3/sec corresponds to a tropospheric half-life of 52 hours at an OH radical concentration of 5x105 molecule/cm3 (Becker et al., 1988).

The measured value of Becker at al (1988) is in reasonable agreement with the calculated value of Pemberton et al (2008).
