Additional information

After release into the environment, propan-1 -ol may be slowly degreaded abiotically by indirect photodegradation in air. However, the main sink for propan-1 -ol will be biodegradation in water and soil (substance is readiliy biodegradable according to OECD criteria). Propan-1 -ol exhibits no potential for hydrolysis because of absence of hydrolyzable groups.

Due to the low log Pow (0.34), accumulation in organisms is not to be expected. Furthermore, the substance is not expected to adsorb to suspended solids and sediment. Once dissolved in water the substance will not significantly evaporate into air (Henry´s Law constant < 1 Pa m3/mol). In general, the main target for environmental distribution will be water (EU-RAR 2008).
