First-aid measures

General information

Seek medical advice immediately

Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment).

Remove affected person from danger area, lay him down.

Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately

Keep warm, calm and covered up.

After inhalation

Summon a doctor immediately.

Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.

After contact with skin

After contact with molten product cool quickly with cold water Do not pull solidified product from skin

Summon a doctor immediately.

After contact with eyes

Summon a doctor immediately.

In case of contact with the eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of water or with an eye-cleaning solution.

After ingestion

When swallowed seek medical aid immediately and show the physician the packaging or the label of the packaging.

Advice to doctor

Symptoms

Headache

Disorientation

Nausea

Cyanosis (change of colour of lips and finger nails to blue gray). Methaemoglobinaemia

Hazards

Risk of deterioration due to consumption of alcohol.

Treatment

Monitor blood circulation.

Keep under medical supervision for at least 48 hours.

If necessary, give oxygen.

In the event of cyanosis give vitamin C, oxygen, keep out of sun.

Against Methaemoglobin anemia: Give 300 ml Toluidine blue intravenously or 1 to 2 mg/kg Methylene blue intravenously.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media dry powder

carbon dioxide

foam

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons water (product as melt)

Special hazards from the substance itself, its combustion products or from its vapours In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO) Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Nitrous gases (NOx)

Hydrogen chloride (HCl)

Under certain conditions of combustion traces of other toxic substances cannot be excluded

Special protective equipment for firefighting

Do not inhale explosion and/or combustion gases Use self-contained breathing apparatus

Further information

Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions

Use personal protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Remove persons to safety.

Environmental precautions

Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil

Contain contaminated water/firefighting water

If the product gets into drains, inform the relevant authorities immediately.

Methods for cleaning up/taking up

Allow to set, pick up mechanically

Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations

When picked up, treat material as prescribed under heading "Disposal".

Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled

Handling and storage

This substance should be handled under strictly controlled conditions as specified in Reach regulation article 18

(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management

system should be available at each manufacturing site.

Advice on safe handling

Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary). Avoid the formation and deposition of dust.

Provide exhaust ventilation if dust is formed.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

In principle, with organic products which are -intentionally or unintentionally- in powdered form, the danger of a dust explosion should be kept in mind.

Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charges - earthing necessary during loading operations.

Keep away from sources of ignition - refrain from smoking.

Dust can form an explosive mixture with air.

Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection

Advice on storage compatibility

Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs

Further information on storage conditions

Keep container tightly closed in a well-ventilated place Protect from heat and direct sunlight

Exposure controls / personal protection

This substance should be handled under strictly controlled conditions as specified in Reach regulation article 18

(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management

system should be available at each manufacturing site.

General protective measures

Avoid contact with eyes and skin

Do not inhale vapours

The product is dispatched hot. Take care - risk of scalding!

Hygiene measures

Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time.

Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again. Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt).

Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages.

Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work

Avoid contact of the substance.

Respiratory protection :       Full mask

Multi-purpose filter ABEK

Hand protection :       Heat-resistant gloves

For short-term exposure (splash protection): Nitrile rubber gloves.

For long-term exposure: Butyl rubber gloves.

These types of protective gloves are offered by various

manufacturers. Please note the manufacturers´ detailed statements, especially about the minimum thickness and the minimum breakthrough time. Consider also the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used., With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured.

Eye protection :       see respiratory protection

Body protection :       Impermeable protective clothing

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition :       not determined, No decomposition if used as prescribed.

Hazardous reactions

When handled and stored appropriately no dangerous reactions are known

Hazardous decomposition products

when handled and stored appropriately no dangerous decomposition products are known

Materials to avoid Strong oxidizers

Disposal considerations
