Description of key information

2,6 -Xylidine is not readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria).

Additional information

2,6 -Xylidine is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria but it is biodegradable after adaption of the inoculum and after a prolonged contact time. In soil, the parent compound is degraded rapidly; however, the transformation products were stable over more than 90 days at 19±2 °C.

Rate constants:

Degradation rate in water:            4.7*10-3   [d-1]1

Degradation rate in soil :            2.31*10-3  [d-1]2

Degradation rate in sediment:        2.31*10-4 [d-1]3

Degradation rate in air:            7.0    [d-1]4
