The requirements for repeatability of the DIN standard are stated as follows: Three lowest values of the main study have to lie within a range of 10 K (if auto ignition temperature is below 300 °C) respectively 20 K (if auto ignition temperature is above 300 °C).

The following lowest values were recorded:

The lowest value of the auto ignition temperature is 379 °C. This value was determined using three drops test item. The test item showed auto ignition after three seconds.

The auto ignition temperature (result of determination) is the lowest value from the lowest values of the three experiments, rounded down to a whole multiple of 5 °C. Therefore, the auto ignition temperature is stated as 375 °C.

The three lowest values of the main study lay within a range of 10 K (as required for auto ignition temperatures above 300 °C and one observer).

Precision

The requirements for precision of the DIN standard in case of one observer and one test system (no interlaboratory testing, no second observer) are stated as follows: Sufficient accordance is reached if the largest difference between measured temperatures was

at the most 10 K for ignition temperatures above 300 °C.

As the largest difference between measuredignitiontemperatures was 7 K difference, accordance with the demands of the DIN standard is given.

Discussion

The study was conducted according to procedure and demands of EU-Method A.15 and DIN 51794. The precision range which is demanded in the DIN standard was fulfilled.

All measured values show good correlation. No observations were made which might cause doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
An auto ignition temperature of 379 °C was determined. This value is the lowest value in three independent determinations.
