Experimental results indicate the chemical benzidine-2,2'-disulphonic acid to be a pale yellow amorphous organic solid with no odour at 24oC and 990 hPa

Melting point of Benzidine-2,2’-disulphonic acid was estimated to be 277.18 deg C as per the Danish EPA database.

Boiling point

Boiling Point of Benzidine-2,2’-disulphonic acid was estimated to be 638.25°C accordng to the Danish EPA database

Density

The experimental value of the bulk density of benzidine-2,2'-disulphonic acid was found to be 0.774 g/cm3 at 24oC. The relative density at 20oC is equivalent to 0.645

Particle size distribution (Granulometry)

The particle size distribution (granulometry) of benzidine-2,2'-disulphonic acid by the sieve analysis method was found to be in the range of 75 micrometer to 300 micrometer. Majority of the particles were found to be in the size range of 75 to 150 micrometer in size.

Vapour pressure

The water solubility of benzidine-2,2'-disulphonic acid was found to be 700 mg/L at 24oC and pH of 6.8. Thus, it is concluded that the chemical is moderately soluble in water.

Solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility

The solubility of benzidine-2,2'-disulphonic acid in methanol was found to be 1240 mg/L at 24oC. Thus, it is concluded that the chemical is soluble in methanol.

The solubility of benzidine-2,2'-disulphonic acid in petroleum ether was found to be 480 mg/L at 24oC. Thus, it is concluded that the chemical is moderately soluble in petroleum ether.

This end point was considered for waiver since there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties in the molecule of benzidine-2,2'-disulphonic acid. Thus, the chemical is considered to be non-explosive.
