Additional information

Skin irritation

In a skin irritation test to white vienna rabbits a study was conducted with the test substance Bis-2,4-dimethylphenoxy-propan-1,3-ol-2 (read across) according to OECD guideline 404. 2 males and 1 female were exposed for 4 hours to the test substance and observed for 72 hours. The rabbits got an application of 0.5 mL of the undiluted and heated test substance to the test patch (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm). The mean erythema of animal 1 was 0.7, of animal two 0.3, same value for animal 3. The erythema effect was fully reversible within 48 h. The edema score was 0 for all animals. In conclusion to these results the test item showed no irritating effects.

Eye irration

In an eye irritation test to white vienna rabbits a study was conducted with the test substance Bis-2,4-dimethylphenoxy-propan-1,3-ol-2 (read across) according to OECD guideline 405. 2 males and 1 female were exposed to 0.1 mL of unchanged test substance after heating at about 40 °C. The study was conducted with a single application to the conjunctival sac of the right eyelid. The substance was not washed out. The cornea and the iris score showed a score of 0 for all animals. The conjunctivae score was 0.7 for animal 1 and 0.3 for animal 3. Animal 2 showed no effects. After 72 h of observation the test substance showed no irritating effects.
