The relative standard deviation (repeatability) of the concentrations in six samples measured was greater than 15% and three duplicate sets of samples showed significant discrepancy without a tendency of increasing concentration values. Thus the test was not satisfactory. The reason could be a possible degradation of 3,5,5 -Trimethylhexanal during the test. Therefore it was analyzed by gas chromatography, which proved that a degradation can be assumed.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): moderately soluble (100-1000 mg/L)
The water solubility of 3,5,5-Trimethylhexanal was measured according to OECD guideline no. 105 and to EU test method A6. The measured values were approximately 200 to 400 mg/L. But the standard deviation of the water concentrations in six samples was greater than 15% and the three duplicate sets of samples showed significant discrepancy without a tendency of increasing concentration values. Therefore a degradation of 3,5,5-Trimethylhexanal in water can be assumed which was proven by analyzing the aqueous phases by GC (see attachment).
