Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The short term toxicity in microorganisms of dipotassium heptafluorotantalate was determined in activated sludge.
According to the key study (Müller & Caspers, 2000) performed to GLP and in accordance with standardised guideline EU Method C.11, the test material was shown to have an LC₅₀ of > 10,000 mg/l.

Additional information

The key study (Müller & Caspers, 2000) is a GLP compliant study performed in accordance to the standardised guideline EU Method C.1, the equivalent of OECD 209. The study was performed to a good standard in line with sound scientific principles and was assigned a reliability score of 2, using the principles set out in Klimisch (1977). The robust study exposed activated sludgeto a range of concentrations over a 3 hour exposure time observing the inhibition of respiration. Under the conditions of the test 48.6 % inhibition of respiration was seen at a concentration of 10000 mg/l. The study determined the LC₅₀ of the test material to be ≥ 10,000 mg/l, greater than the water soulbility of the test material.
