- Executive summary:
A samp le of MTDID 48740 was tested to assess its pot ent ial to cause effects on the
growth of the green algae, Pseudokirchneriel/a subcapitata, using t he procedures
out lined in the Maxxam Study Plan for TOX1713, which is based on the Standard
Operating Procedure {SOP) for OECD 201: Alga, Growth Inhibit ion (BBY2SOP-00016) and
OECD 201 Freshwater Alga and Cyanobacteria, Growt h Inhibit ion Test (OECD, 2011).
This test was conducted to assess the effects of the test item on the algae by observing
the growth of test organisms over a 72-h exposure period, under cont rolled condit ions,
using the following nominal concentrations: 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50, and 100 mg Test lt em/ L
in addi t ion to a negative (laboratory) cont rol {0 mg/L).
The mean measured concent rat ions of the test item were wit hin 80% to 120% {93% to
103%) of the nominal concentrations; therefore, the biological endpoints were
calculated using the nominal concentrations of the test item. The 72-h EC50, EC20, and
EC10 with 95% Confidence Limits and NOEC/LOEC for cell yield and specific growt h rate
are summarised in the table below, based on the nominal concentrat ion of MTDID
48740.
