Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Specific details on test material used for the study:
Sample Name-Semicarbazide-HCI
CAS/EC Number-563-41-7 I 209-24 7 -0
Batch No.-55507861
Purity-99.3 %
Appearance-White crystals

The thermogram is shown in figure 1. Endothermic reactions are observed at 180, 250 and 310 °C. The sharp peak at 180 °C is consistent with the melting point reported in ENVIGO report L T39TY: "Semicarbazide Hydrochloride: Physiochemical Properties", 2018. There is one small exothermal reaction with onset value of 340 °C. This peak has been integrated with a result of 24 J/g

Conclusions:
Semicarbazide-HCI show no significant exothermal behaviour below 500 °C.

Description of key information

Please refer to thermoanalytical data attached in section 4.14 titled_Explosiveness supporting study. The analytical test (DSC) of the material is available which confirms Semicarbazide-HCl has only one decomposition point below 500 °C, which is calculated to be 24 J/g, therefore confirming exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500J/g.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive
