According to inhouse AkzoNobel methods the minimum ignition energy and the burining rate of Chloramine-T were determined. The test substance was ground and dried before it was used in the experiments.
Minumum ignition energy:
Tosylchloramide sodium has been tested at 500 and 1000 g/m3. No ignition was observed at the maximum adjustable spark energy in ten successive trials at each concentration. The MIE of Chloramine-T is therefore >3600 mJ.
Buring rate test:
The test was performed using Tosylchloramide sodium "as received" and using the ground and dried product. The behaviour of the products during this test was comparable. During ignition the samples burn. After removal of the ignition source the flame on the burning sample extinguishes immediately. The test was repeated with the same results.
Therefore, it is concluded that Tosylchloramide sodium is not flammable.
