PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
[[4-[[2-(4-cyclohexylphenoxy)ethyl]ethylamino]-2-methylphenyl]methylene]malononitrile
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
Reference substance:
[[4-[[2-(4-cyclohexylphenoxy)ethyl]ethylamino]-2-methylphenyl]methylene]malononitrile
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Classification of [[4-[[2-(4-cyclohexylphenoxy)ethyl]ethylamino]-2-methylphenyl]methylene] malononitrile (CAS no. 54079-53-7) for effects in the environment:

The test-material, [[4-[[2-(4-cyclohexylphenoxy)ethyl]ethylamino]-2-methylphenyl]methylene] malononitrile (CAS no. 54079-53-7) is also called as the Disperse yellow 201 solvent yellow 6gfl. The chemical is mainly used as the colouring agent in printing inks, plastics, gasoline, rubber, lubricant wax and candles. The classification of the chemical in into the PBT category was mainly done based on the available data in the different section below and categorized using the Annex XIII as the reference document.

Persistence Assessment:

In accordance to the estimation program interface suite (EPI suite,2018), based on the Biowin V4.10, and along with the other similar read across chemicals suggests us that [[4-[[2-(4-cyclohexylphenoxy)ethyl]ethylamino]-2-methylphenyl]methylene]malononitrile (CAS no. 54079-53-7) is not readily biodegradable. Which indicates that test chemical might be persistence in nature.

Bioaccumulation assessment

Biomagnification studies was conducted to understand the amount of test chemical that accumulates in the visceral organs. Based on the study the results conclude that the BMF value is 0.0026 for 20days this outcomes states that test chemical is non bio accumulative in nature.

Toxicity assessment

Aquatic organisms

Short-term eco-toxicity data for fish from experimental study report summarizes that the test substance (4-{[2-(4-cyclohexylphenoxy)ethyl](ethyl)amino}-2-methylbenzylidene) malononitrile (CAS no. 54079-53-7), 96 h LC50 value is greater than 1.0 mg/L.

As per Column 2 (Annex VIII) of the REACH regulation, the section 6 of ecotoxicity is need not be conducted, as it very highly insoluble in nature i.e., 0.004-0.0007. Thus, it is impossible to perform the experiment.

Mammalian toxicity

The summaries of all the reports to mammalian toxicity suggests that the test chemical is neither a CMR nor the STOT chemical.

Conclusion:

On critical analysis of all the endpoints, the test chemical meet the only criteria of persistence and it cannot be classified as the PBT chemical.
