Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A reliable study with potassium nitrate showed an 48-hr EC50 of 490 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A daphnia study with potassium nitrate was performed. Daphnia were exposed for 96 hrs, however the 48 -hr endpoint has been used here and was determined to be 490 mg/L. The study endpoint was expressed as the TLm (median Tolerance Limit). The median Tolerance Limit is the concentration of a toxic material at which 50% of the test organisms (usually aquatic organisms) survive (=EC50).
