Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
surface tension
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.5 (Surface Tension)
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
ring method
Surface tension:
72.9 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
0.4 g/L
Remarks on result:
other: The tested solution is slightly below the recommended 1g/l but this is not considered an issue given that the result was far above 60 mN/m

The surface tension of a solution containing 1.13 g/L test material (corresponding to 0.396 g/L Ammonium bromide) was determined.

The surface tension was not corrected using the Harkins-Jordan correction table. This deviation is considered not to affect the integrity of the study.

Conclusions:
Ammonium bromide is not a surface active substance.
result: 72.9 mN/m
temperature: 20.0+-0.5°C

Description of key information

Ammonium bromide is not a surface active substance: 72.9 mN/m at a temperature of 20.0°C and concentration of 400 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
72.9
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
400

Additional information
