3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate (tricyclodecenyl acetate) gives negative results for gene mutation in Ames test conductedon S. typhimurium strains TA98, TA100,TA1535, TA1537, and TA1538 without metabolic activation.
Executive summary:

In an Ames test (Ames et al., 1975), 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate (tricyclodecenyl acetate), in dimethyl sulfoxide from doses 0.00001 to 0.01 ug/plate was not mutagenic in Salmonella typhimurium strains TA98, TA100,TA1535, TA1537, and TA1538 with and without addition of S9 liver fractions from Aroclor induced rats. Higher doses could not be tested due to bacteriostatic effects.

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (negative)

Additional information

Additional information from genetic toxicity in vitro:

Chromosome aberration test for 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate in chinese hamster Ovary (CHO) estimates negative result by using Multicase model A61.

Also the estimated mutations results in Danish QSAR for mammalian cells (mouse lymphoma) with 3a,4,5,6,7,7a- hexahydro-4,7- methanoinden-6-yl acetate were observed to be negative results.

Justification for classification or non-classification
