The total dissolved nickel in each of the three tests were 0.753, 0.642 and 0.632 mg/L. The average of the three tests was 0.676 mg/L which represented 1% of the nickel in the initial solid Ni(OH)2.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Executive summary:

We have conducted 24 hr transformation screening tests, including replicates, on 100 mg quantities of solid Ni(OH)2, Ni3S2and NiS in 1 L quantities of the OECD 203 aquatic medium using a radial impeller method of rapid agitation at 400 r.p.m. We found that the average percentages of nickel dissolved were 1%, 10% and 23%, respectively, of the nickel in the initial solids.
