Results showed that neither the growth rate, nor the biomass of the algae were affected by the presence of the base oil WAF over the 96–hour exposure period i.e. the EL50 (96h biomass), EL50 (96h growth rate) and the NOEL (No Observed Effect Loading Rate) were all greater than 1000 mg/l.
