Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Batch C000363565
Key result
Water solubility:
3.7 µg/L
Conc. based on:
element
Remarks:
Titanium
Loading of aqueous phase:
300 g/L
Incubation duration:
96 h
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
5.7
Key result
Water solubility:
5.93 µg/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Loading of aqueous phase:
300 g/L
Incubation duration:
96 h
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
5.7

At this point it should be noted that a very high loading (approx. 300 g/L) of the sample in the solvent water is used compared to a usual transformation dissolution screening test (100 mg/L, OECD series on testing and assessment number 29 (2001) Guidance document on transformation/dissolution of metals and metal compounds in aqueous media). This fact in connection with the result shows that the water solubility of the test item is very low.

Conclusions:
According to OECD Test Guideline 105 (1995) and Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.6. the water solubility at 20 °C after 96 h stirring and a loading of 300 g/L of the test item Ti3O5/Al2O3 Granulat 0.7-5mm was determined to be 3.7 μg Ti/L, corresponding to 5.93 μg/L test item.
Executive summary:

According to OECD Test Guideline 105 (1995) and Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.6. the water solubility at 20 °C after 96 h stirring and a loading of 300 g/L of the test item Ti3O5/Al2O3 Granulat 0.7-5mm was determined to be 3.7 μg Ti/L, corresponding to 5.93 μg/L test item.
