Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Experimental studies assessing the toxicity of the UVCB substance fatty acids, coco, esters with 1,3-butanediol (CAS 73138-39-3) are available for three trophic levels, i.e. algae, fish, and aquatic invertebrates. The studies were performed according to appropriate guidelines and GLP.

The experimental studies resulted in short-term effect values of EL50 (48 h) = 37.59 mg/L (nominal loading rate) for aquatic invertebrates, and an ErL50 (72 h) = 16.95 mg/L (nominal loading rate) for algae. For fish a LC50 (96 h) > 10.26 mg/L (initial measured conc.) was determined (LC50 (96 h) > 100 mg/L nominal). Thus, algae was identified as the most sensitive trophic level. Long term toxicity data are available only for algae with an ErL10 (72 h) = 6.85 mg/L (nominal loading rate) and a NOErLR of 3.07 mg/L (nominal loading rate).

The toxicity control performed within the scope of the biodegradation screening test (OECD 301) revealed no toxic effects on aquatic microorganisms.
