Conclusion on classification

All short-term aquatic toxicity studies reported EC50/LC50 values well above 100 mg/L, and well above the water solubility of the target substance. However, the target substance does not biodegrade to any appreciable extent (10% in 28 days and 6.2% in 35 days). It is very poorly water-soluble (water solubility below the detection limit of 0.06 mg/L) and is hydrolytically stable (no hydrolysis observed in an OECD 111 study) and did show some inhibition to green algae in the OECD 201 study. Due to these reasons, it is considered prudent to apply the GHS 'safety net' classification of Aquatic Chronic 4 to this substance.
