Conclusion on classification

In order to determine the classification for hazardous properties related to the aquatic environment, the criteria of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) in Annex I were accurately followed. Because no chronic toxicity data is available, adequate acute toxicity data available for all 3 trophic levels was used.

The criteria in Table 4.1.0 (b) (iii) of Annex I of the CLP Regulation were applied.

The toxicity data elements used in assigning the correct classification category are:

Aquatic toxicity data for 3 trophic levels:

Fish (96h) LC50: 3.21 mg/L

Invertebrates (48h) EC50: 12.1 mg/L

Algae (96h) EC50: 5.45 mg/L. No EC10 value has been derived in the algae study.

 

Environmental fate data:

The Log Kow is 3.01, indicating a low potential for bioaccumulation.

The substance is readily biodegradable.

 

Based on the acute toxicity data (Table 4.1.0(b) (iii)) the lowest acute toxicity value is between >1 and ≤ 10 mg/L(fish), however, the substance is rapidly biodegradable (and the log Kow < 4).

Therefore, the substance does not need to be classified according to the criteria of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) in Annex I.
