Description of key information

The test substance is hydrolysed in water or biological fluids and tissues to sulphuric acid, which is corrosive to the skin and eyes.

Additional information

The pH of water solutions containing 0.1 M and 1 M test substance were 1.3 and 0.6, respectively. Therefore, since the test substance has a pH ≤2, it is considered to be corrosive to the skin and eyes.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The pH of water solutions containing 0.1 M and 1 M test substance were 1.3 and 0.6, respectively. Therefore, since the test substance has a pH ≤2, it is classified as C; R35 (causes severe burns) according to EU Directive 67/548/EEC and Cat 1A (H314: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage) according to the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
