Description of key information

DL- and L-alanine are considered to be mobile in soil and sediment and will not sorb to sludge. DL- and L-alanine will not evaporate from the aqueous phase.

Additional information

Based on a calculated Koc of 0.036 L/kg using the measured log Kow of -2.85 (Sangster, 1994) no significant adsorption of DL- and L alanine to soil, sediment or sludge is expected. Based on the high water solubility and low vapour pressure no evaporation from DL- or L-alanine will occur.
