Additional information

Data on the acute toxicity of Diisooctadecyl malate (CAS 67763-18-2) to fish is not available. The assessment was therefore based on a study conducted with the structurally similar substance Diisodecyl Azelate (CAS 28472-97-1) as part of a read across approach, which is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Further justification is given within the overall summary chapter 6.1 and within the analogue justification section 13.

The acute toxicity of Diisodecyl Azelate (CAS 28472-97-1) to fish was tested in a study according to OECD 203 (Hansonis-Jouleh, 1993). The test fish (Leuciscus idus melanotus) were exposed in a limit test to a test substance concentration of 10000 mg/L under static test conditions. A LC50 (96 h) > 10 g/L (nominal) was determined indicating no effects.

Based on the available result from one structurally related source substance (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5) which is characterized by a similar ecotoxicological profile and comparable structure, it can be concluded that Diisooctadecyl malate is not acutely toxic to fish up to the limit of water solubility.
