No reports of dermal sensitisation studies conducted in animals are available. There is a report of a dermal sensitisation study in humans, with the conclusion that the substance may be a mild sensitiser (1 of 202 persons sensitised). There is a long history of safe use as a dermal insect repellent. The substance is not classified as skin sensitiser.

The substance is harmonized in Regulation EC No. 1272/2008, and this classification does not include dermal sensitisation.
