Toxicological information

Acute Toxicity: oral

Currently viewing:

Administrative data

Endpoint:
acute toxicity: oral
Type of information:
migrated information: read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Raw data of acute toxicity study containing limited information but adequate for the purposes of hazard identification and classification.
Justification for type of information:
In contact with water 4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane undergoes a rapid hydrolysis to form boric acid (CAS 10043-35-3) and pinacol (CAS 76-09-5). Since boric acid seems to be the more toxic degradation product, the read across to this compound is scientifically justified.
