Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

The key study available for this endpoint was a Local Lymph Node Assay, indicating a maximum Stimulation Index (SI) of 2.0. The proliferation observed in the lymph nodes of mice is not sufficient to regard phosphorous slag as sensitising up to concentrations of 50%. No supporting studies were available.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Local Lymph Node Assay (LLNA): not sensitising (OECD 429, GLP)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available results, phosphorous slag does not need to be classified as skin sensitiser when considering the criteria outlined in Annex I of 1272/2008/EC and Annex VI of 67/548/EEC.
