- Details on test organisms:
- TEST ORGANISM
- Method of breeding:
- 20 °C
-photoperiod: 16 h light / 8 h dark
- food, water and glass changed twice a week
- Food type: algae (Selenastrum capricornutum)
Study design

- no
- Total exposure duration:
- 21 d
Test conditions
- Test temperature:
- 19.5 - 20.5 °C
- Dissolved oxygen:
- 7.3 - 8.0 mg/L
- Nominal and measured concentrations:
- test concentrations (nominal): 40, 80, 160, 320 and 600 mg/L
(analyzed concentrations ranged from 91.4 % to 106 % of the nominal concentrations) - Details on test conditions:
- - Test vessels: 600-ml Pyrex beakers which contained a 1 .0 mm mesh stainless steel platform and five glass tubes (2.5 x 12 .5 cm) with 363 μm nylon mesh bottoms
- Each test beaker contained 500 ml of the appropriate amounts of test material, food and water.
- During the test the solutions were gently aerated to achieve 90 to 105 % saturation.
- There were four replicates for each test concentration and the control
- 20 organisms per concentration (five daphnids per replicate)
- The daphnids were fed S. capricornutum at an equivalent rate of 1 .25 mg/L dry weight
- Photoperiod of 16 h light / 8 h dark
- Three times a week the young produced by each adult were counted and discarded and adult survival was recorded
- After enumeration of the young, the adults were transferred to clean beakers containing fresh test and control solutions, in addition to a new supply of food
